World Down Syndrome Day

March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day. It so because people born with Down Syndrome have a 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome, thus it is also referred to as Trisomy 21.

My son, Alphonse was also born with Down Syndrome and typically, it is accompanied by so many medical issues and he had quite a number of them including Tetralogy of Fallot for which he underwent surgery at age 6 weeks.

I created this artwork to help raise awareness about people with special needs hoping that one day, society will be more inclusive and kind towards our children.
