Pattern Play | Sunflower Burst + Surprise!
Oh the dreaded Monday is here!
How long has it been since you despise the day? The days when you were in school? The days when you were working with a boss whom you did not like? Or is it because it's the beginning of the week when you'll have to wake up earlier than usual?
Well, however you hated Monday, I'm pretty sure this week will be one of those I-am-going-to-love-Mondays week! Let's just say we want to start the week with smiles and share happiness around before we dive into the full work-mode. Read on and find out.
This week's pattern inspiration was Mother's Day. When I was brainstorming for my latest digital scrapbook product called You're The Mom, I doodled a lot of flowers. Different types of flowers, branches, leaves and laces. I thought of every little thing that can be associated with mom but not too overwhelming that I'll end up with so many icons and the theme will be too vast. There were sketches that didn't make my final work but in the end I'm happy with what I decided to use. Some of them, are the sunflowers and I call this pattern Sunflower Burst. I love the sketchy feeling, the imperfections, the outlines and the silhouettes coordinating with each other perfectly. To be honest, I never thought I'd end up doing this because in my sketchbook, it didn't look very pretty. But when I digitized them all in Illustrator, I made a mistake while coloring them and accidentally colored one while it's grouped and it turned into a silhouette. That little mistake gave me the crazy idea to combine the outlines with a silhouette and boy did it turn out pretty (as you can see at the top of this page)! Crazy right?
Now, going back to hating Mondays - there's something new happening in here every first Monday of the month and I hope you'll love it! Because you will not just see my patterns from my blog. You'll get to experience to use it - on your mobile OR your desktop - every first Monday of every month.
