Clustering Elements | Go the Extra Mile

mdl_clusteringtutorial.jpg

It's time for Lesson 3 and I hope you had fun with yesterday's lesson! If this is your first time in this class, be sure to check our Introduction, Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 first.

How's the shadowing lesson yesterday? Were you able to play with it and apply what you learned to your layouts?

SS15

This is where we left off yesterday and as you can see - the layout look already better than it was before applying the drop shadows. We've achieved the basic look!

Give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done!

Are we happy now?

Honestly, the page is already good. But the question is - can I still do something to make EVEN better?

Just how many times (in this mini class) have I told you this - DO NOT be afraid to play around! And this is exactly what we are going to do.

Go the extra mile!

Add more elements - not just flowers and leaves. Add flairs, buttons, bunting, scatters! That's what clustering is all about - so have fun! Don't be too hard on yourself. Don't stress yourself by comparing yourself with other scrapbookers.

If you noticed, I added 3 rounded rectangles in there. To do it, go to your shapes menu and select the rounded rectangular tool and draw the shapes. Adjust the layers and put it under the photo layer. You can use those shapes to clip some patterned papers just like what I did.

SS16

And I'm already happy with it - NOT! I decided to put more accents so I added scatters, butterflies, strings, labels and banners. Do you agree with me when I say they made the layout even more beautiful?

SS19

And you think I'm done don't you? I still have one more finishing touch I need to do. The background looks very plain to me. It's good but I know it can still be better.

SS20

So, I started tilting my brown paper and I added a new background. Two plain papers look rather plain so I inserted another patterned paper in between them and tilted it a bit and finally, added a tiny journaling in there.

Now, I am Happy! Here's the actual layout for your viewing pleasure :)

Come back tomorrow because there will be 2 awesome cluster artists joining me tomorrow. You will see how they started, what inspired them and yes, you'll even get to ask questions and they will answer it!
